Physician Training in Mohs Surgery
Physicians who perform
Mohs surgery should have specialized skills in dermatology,
dermatologic surgery, dermatopathology, and the Mohs
technique. The ASMS strongly supports the concept of
dermatology residency training in Mohs surgery, and a number
of ASMS members are on faculty in residency programs
throughout the country. Other avenues for obtaining basic
and advanced training in Mohs surgery include specialized
Mohs fellowships, observational preceptorships, and
comprehensive training courses. Our annual Fundamentals of
Mohs Surgery course provides an intensive introduction and
overview of the Mohs technique, and is open to physicians
and technicians. Our annual clinical symposium includes more
advanced Mohs surgical and laboratory topics, as well as
discussions centering on reconstructive techniques and all
aspects of cutaneous oncology.
