Peer Review Program
Participation in the ASMS Proficiency Testing program is
required on an annual basis for Fellow members. Non-Fellow
members may participate on a voluntary basis. This program
is unique and progressive among Mohs surgeons, and is
recognized as a valuable membership benefit. The Proficiency
Testing program is a direct reflection of our commitment to
the ongoing quality and competency of our members.
Clinical Observational Preceptorship Program
The ASMS has established the Clinical Observational
Preceptorship program to promote and expand educational
opportunities relative to Mohs surgery. Observation takes
place in the offices of a variety of skilled and experienced
member dermatologic surgeons. Closure considerations, as
well as a large number of frozen sections from past cases,
are reviewed during the observational experience. Preceptees
are able to expand on techniques learned during the
Fundamentals of Mohs Surgery course.
Preceptee participation is limited to ASMS member
dermatologists with prior Fundamentals of Mohs Surgery
course attendance. The program consists of three one-week
sessions with individual preceptors, to be completed over a
two-year period. Tuition is used by the ASMS in the
development and support of its ongoing educational
objectives. Individual member physicians volunteer their
time to participate on the faculty of the Preceptorship
program.
